Studio

Interior architecture, and everything it takes to build it.

The studio of Marije Richards: a working table with material samples, sketches and objects under woven pendant lights in warm afternoon light
The studio — where materials, samples and drawings meet.

Marije Richards is an interior architect, concept developer and creative director. She leads the creative direction at RICHARDS, working on high-end concepts across the Benelux, Southeast Asia and Spain, with experience in hospitality, modular housing and residential design.

Her work begins with the question of what a space should make someone feel, and ends with a built environment — drawn, engineered, manufactured and delivered. Concepts are communicated in 3D visualisation and film, so that clients, investors and contractors see the same space before it exists.

She has travelled extensively, and the encounters that shaped her — places, landscapes, craftsmanship, ways of living — return in the work as material choices and spatial decisions rather than decoration. Design rooted in place. Materials with origin. Objects with a story.

Not a stylist. A designer, a concept creator and a project thinker.

From atmosphere to floor plan

Narrative, mood and material are tested against structure, regulation, budget and buildability from the first sketch onward.

From material to manufacturing

Long-standing work with suppliers, craftsmen and international manufacturers means bespoke elements are specified to be made, not only drawn.

From concept to completion

Project development, production coordination and realisation keep the finished space faithful to the concept it started as.
